I always want to do this for quite sometimes now untill recently,
I have had some free times to really start this off and put it up on the internet. This would be the best idea to share what
I wanna share with my friends and all those who might find this useful to them. I used to have this first group with msn way
back in 1998, I left the login name and password be known to members so that they can contribute
Since the day I arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
I realized that the knowledge about Solomon Islands among most of my friends almost non-existent, that day was the 6th september
1996..To most, there is no country on earth which is called Solomon Islands..
Solomon Islands is one of the many small Island countries
which is doted on the map and mostly unknown to many people including those from this part of the world. Though
its geographically and demographicay closeness to Asia, there are few who knows where it is, especially those who studied
in Australia and New Zealand and or those who meet a Solomon Islander. If you are living in Aussie or NZ then it takes little
time to explain when yu come face to face with such questions.
However, the case here in the Asian region during those
days is totally different altogether, it usually takes long hours (if its a group discussion) to finally put something
into someone head... especially when someones geography is very backward (no offence to anyone). The very first Question that
you expect when saying you are from Solomon Islands is, “Which part of Africa are you from?” though certain cases
some assume that Solomon Islands is in Europe, which I ignorantly anwered, its near South Pole and of course they believed
it cos to them south pole is near europe.. LOL its such an ignorant question if one thinks about it but thats how the mind
set of many are, now its you, who could use that very moment to further explain to him/her so that this person will know exactly
where you are from and then will finally realize that Solomon Islands does exist.
I have no one watching over my back so I can lie about
where am from. If I want questions to be short, I just have to answer that am from Australia or New Zealand
or even from the State or the Carribean which are well known here. Sometimes tho I told em either am from Papua
New Guinea or Fiji Islands which to some extend are abit known among most here.
To be true, I felt guilty to lie to someone (my facial
expression will sell me J ) about where am from as its my responsibility and yours
as well to tell the world that Solomon Islands do exist.
Due to demographic location and been so far from
home of residence, I can only be able to get and use secondary information, (i.e. from other sources, such as websites
and news rooms and friends) I decided to incorprate the valuable work of others into a meaningful thing since someone
might just get across here before landing into other resourceful sites. Most of the pictures and photos on this site
are taken from other Solomon Sites as well as Tour the Solomon sites, which help every much in the promotion of the
Tourism Industry throughout the country.
Almost all the pictures in these pages are taken from
other Solomon Islands site plus tourism destinations links, which I felt should be helpful to show the world about
Solomon Islands and what is there-in for the world. I put all these pages together with the intention of making
it an informational hub and at the same time a linkage that will connect people around the world to view and have
some knowledge about where on earth our country is located. I have lots of Chat friends around the world too who are very
interested to visit Solomon Islands someday, so this is just a little bit of help on that part. Some even go to the extend
of learning the pijin..from Germany, France, and other European Countries.
Having been out of the country for so long, putting these
pages up is one thing that keep me up todate with whats going on back at home; I regularly keep in touch with people in the
country as well as those residing outside the country. One thing that we have to come to term with is the ethnic tension that
had ruined the hopes of many of our people back home especially the rural folks.
At this point of time, the only positive thing to do is
to support the government to pull us out of the economic, law and order problems that cribbed the country to its knees.
I would be glad to see the prominent leaders of Solomon
Islands to work together to achieve this end rather than fighting among themselves for power as we had witnessed since
the day we get our independence.
Stability and good governance are what we really need
right now and to achieve this, the government has to work together to put a STOP to the criminal elements plus criminal activities
which are killing the country Internally and internationally and to make viable economic policies that can attract foreign
investments back into the country.
We could only voice our dismay and resentments at the
government decisions or policies but we could also at the same time put up something on the internet, which is readily available
to expose ourselves and our country to the outside world. With thorough review of existing policies and implementation of
sound development policies, I believe our country would get out of where it is now.
I think theres nothing
much that I could do to help the country at this particular moment of time but to put up some pictures of the lost PARADISE,
once a lovely country called Solomon Islands, in these pages to creat awareness among people that there is a country
named Solomon Islands does exist somewhere on this planet.
Besides all these, I think that its such a wonderful idea
to have a page dedicated to all that I wanted and few of what you want. More and more, it makes me feel good having one,
so here am what i have for ya.... common follow me... laea nomoa.
Lastly, many thanks to the host
of Peoplefirst net (PFnet) and other individual hosts of other Solomon Islands sites, whose
pictures are highlighted on this site and also to the Department of Commerce, Solomon Islands.
A very specdial word of Thanks also goes to Jane Resture whom I had put lots of her links on this site, especially in the Pacific Information link page.
Thanks goes to those who host the pacific Music sites
and links which are linked in the Pacific Music page on this site. Your thorough thinkning and swift action puts not only
the pacific music on the net but also our cultures and traditions..
On a personal note, I would like to thank Ninz for her
part in supplying some of the pics-- MAINE OROWE NOMOA :)
THANK ALL ONCE AGAIN
