What really motivates me to do this, is the long hours that I've been hooked up on the net trying to put up some pictures together to help me out in describing and explaining Solomon Islands to 1000s of students, colleagues and friends all over the world who keeps on bugging every single day to tell them about Solomon Islands.

Since I arrive in Malaysia (Sept. 1996), I realized that the knowledge about Solomon Islands among most of my friends almost not exist. To most, there is no country called Solomon Islands. Solomon Islands is one of the many small Island countries in the Pacific Ocean which is little or otherwise unknown or unheard of, in many parts of the world. If you are in Aussie or NZ then it takes little time to explain.

However, the case here in the Asian region is totally different altogether, it usually takes long hours (if its a group discussion) to finally put something into someone's head... especially when someones' geography is very backward (no offence to anyone). The very first Question that you expect when saying you are from SI is, “Which part of Africa is that and which part of Africa are you from?” Though certain cases some assumes that Solomon Islands is in Europe, which I ignorantly anwered, its near South Pole ☺☻ and of course they believe that South Pole is near Europe.. LOL. It's such an ignorant question if one thinks about it but thats how the mind set is, now it's you, who can use that very moment to explain to him/her further so that this person will know exactly where you are from and then will finally realize that Solomon Islands does exist.

I have no one watching over my back so I can lie about where I am from. If I want questions to be short, I just have to answer that am from Australia or New Zealand which are well known or some times just say I am from Fiji or Papua New Guinea which to some extend are abit known here. To be true sometimes I felt guilty about lying to someone about where I am from as it is my responsibility (and yours as well) to tell the world that Solomon Islands do exist.

Therefore, I decided to make a page for all the pictures which I have collected from other Solomon Islands individuals as well as websites plus tourism information pages. As a Solomon Islander, I felt obliged to do this and with the help of technology and internet in particular I believe we should put in more about informing the world about our existence and that there is a country some where in the Pacific called Solomon Islands

I put all these pages together with the hope that it will shade some light to some of our friends all over the world who doesnt not have a friend from the Solomon Islands to explain to him/her about the country. and put into other connections, I have lots of Chat friends around the world too who are very interested to visit Solomon Islands someday, so this is just a little bit of help on that part..

Lastly, having been out of the country since Sept.11th 1996 to date is one thing that keep me up to make this; I’ve regularly keeping in touch with people in the country as well as those residing outside the country. One thing that we have to come to term with is the ethnic tension that had ruined the hopes of many of our people back home especially the rural folks. At this point of time, the only positive thing to do is to support the government to pull us out of the economic, law and order problems that cribbed the country to its knees.

I would be very glad to see the prominent leaders of Solomon Islands working together to achieve this end rather than in fighting among each other for power as we had witnessed since the day we get our independence.

Stability is what we are really need right now and to achieve this, the government has to work together to put a STOP to the criminal elements plus criminal activities which are killing the country locally and internationally and to make viable economic policies that can attract investments into the country.

Most of us could voice our dismay at the government decisions or policies but we could also at the same time put up something on the internet, which is readily available to expose our country to the outside world.

I think theres  nothing much that I could do to help the country at this particular moment and time but to put up some pictures of once a lovely country called Solomon Islands in these pages to let people aware that there is a country named Solomon Islands does exist somewhere on this planet.

This site is made possible by the realization that there is something good that we individuals can do to help our country. Most of the pictures and photos on this site are taken from other Solomon Sites as well as Tour the Solomon sites which help every much in the promotion of the Tourism industry throughout the country.

Besides all these, I think that its such a wonderful idea to have a page dedicated to all that I wanted and few or NONE of what you want. More and more, it makes me feel good having one, so here am I.... common follow me.... lol!!  laea nomoa.

Lastly, many thanks to the host of PFnet and other individual hosts of other solo sites whose pictures are highlighted on this site and also to the Ministry of Commerce, Solomon Islands.

Special Word Of Thanks also goes to Jane Resture whom I had put lots of her links on this site in the Pacific Information page

I decided to tell you abit about myself on this page for  many reasons. To name a few, I think it is important to know who am I, as I would be the one responsible for whatever goes into this site. Secondly, I think that it will be a good idea to write down what i want to write about myself and or my family. So I ended up with the overall decision to put up this site..

I will try my very my best to tell you alittle bit about myself and my family background(????), and few other things that I want you to know. However, perosnal information on this site will be limited to the Acts and Amenmends 2020 of the Privacy Laws as it might hinder my beliefs and personal life. Detailed graphic/personal information can only obtained in my gallery upon personal request, however, you can only get it through personal enquiries and nothing more than that. There are few conditions that applies to getting these personal/graphic profiles which are inline with the privacy frame-work to me They are as follows.

1. If you are my personal friend whom we know each other inside-out for centuries,

2. If you are willing to keep it to yourself (top secret),

3. If you are a good and considerate friend, knowing each other for a long time, a decade,

4. If you think that you are good enough to be in my circle of friends,

5. Only if you are considered all of the above then and only then you can ask for it.

In the main time, something may change as time goes by and I might put things that are considered personal here after all. So sit tait na stap calm..

Thanks for taking a look at my site. Be sure to get in touch with your thoughts and suggestions. MY JOURNEY AND MY STRUGGLES FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS

This will be part of my future project so best not to mentioned it all in here but I will jot down what i think should be known to you..

It might be controversial in some way and I believe some people whose material interest would be at stake of this project..

I am a muslim and I only want the best of the so called Islamic Organizations who should be upholding the true image of Islam- total eradication of materialism cos it leads to corruption- people pray every day but the worst thing one can do is pray and commit the same mistakes over and over again..

So first part of this would be dedicated to my university... wallahu alam

Home sweet home MARAMASIKE PASSAGE

whether u like it or not.. this is where i called home

South Malaita Island

South Malaita Island, also known as Small Malaita and Maramasike, is a small island at the southern tip of the larger island of Malaita in the eastern part of the Solomon Islands. It is now part of Malaita Province. During the colonial days, the island was divided by the colonial government and missionary establishments into the Asimauri, Asimae, and Raroisu'u districts.

People on the island, however, preferred to identify only with members of their extended families, where ties are the strongest, and with members of their clans and tribes, which are governed within traditionally demarcated regions known as iolas. The language spoken by the people of Small Malaita is the Sa'a dialect. The language, however, has variations in pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary from iola to iola. The people practised patrilineal descent, with men having the most say over ownership rights and recognised as head of familes, clans and tribes. Women played a much lesser role in the art of governing; however, they were equally respected in society.
